Single Items Done With Care: Pianos to Pool Tables
Not every move is a full house relocation. Sometimes it's a single piano on its way to a new owner. Sometimes it's a fridge, a pool table, an antique armoire from Grandma, or a one-piece couch that needs to make it from a furniture store in Chatswood up to a third-floor walk-up in Cremorne. North Shore Removals takes single-item jobs seriously: the right truck, the right crew size, the right equipment for the item, and the same insurance cover as a full-house move.
Common Items We Move
Pianos — uprights, baby grands, full grands — are the most common specialist item we handle. We use piano dollies, padded slings, and crews of three or four depending on the size and access. Other regular jobs include pool tables (typically requires partial disassembly), commercial-grade fridges and freezers, safes, antique furniture, large artworks and mirrors, single couches that won't fit through a stairwell without breakdown, and outdoor BBQs or smokers being moved between properties.
Why Per-Item Differs to a Full Move
For a full move, our pricing is hourly with a 3-hour minimum. For single-item moves we usually quote a flat rate based on the item, distance, and access at both ends. This is because the work is more about specialist handling than total volume — a single piano can take 2 hours but requires a 3- or 4-man crew with specialist gear, while a fridge across the road might take 30 minutes with two people. We'll tell you which option is cheaper for your situation when you enquire.
Same Insurance, Same Care
Single-item moves carry the same transit insurance and public liability cover as full-house moves. We wrap, pad, dolly and lift with exactly the same protocols. If the item is uniquely valuable — a hand-built piano, an antique inherited piece, an art-house collectable — let us know during the quote so we can recommend any additional cover or specialist crating.
When to Choose a Single-Item Move
Choose a single-item move when you have one or two items rather than a full home; when the item is heavy or oversized and needs specialist handling; when you've bought something from a store or online and need it delivered safely; or when an existing piece needs to be relocated within or between homes.
